California’s native Red oak is a hardwood that burns slowly and evenly. The aromatic smoke generated by the smoldering chips imparts the distinct character of the terroir of California’s Central Coast; a mellow sweet flavor that is low in tannins.
Great subtle flavor. I use on propane grill with multiple smoker boxes. I always let smoke flavor mature in the fridge after cooking. So goid!.

Even though I don't live on the central Coast anymore, I still cook my tritip on my Santa Maria style BBQ grill with Susie Q's seasoning. Since it's hard to find red oak near me, it's nice to know I can get some on this web site. Thanks!
Susie Q's Red Oak is the best wood I've ever used on tri-tip and or prime rib to smoke with! I've used a lot of different Oak and Susie Q's Red Oak is the best hands down!
